CLARKAIR CA-1: The ClarkAir Crawler Model CA-1 tractor had been landed successfully by Waco glider in Burma. There the CA-1 was used to construct airfields to support Chindit jungle operations behind the Japanese lines. One was known to be landed by the British Airborne Engineers at Arnhem but never used. The 101st Airborne Glider Echelon Report, downgraded from SECRET, lists two bulldozer glider loads on D+1. No record can be found of the CA-1 being used by the 101st Airborne Division during Market Garden. The photo on the left showing a CA-1 and a demolished Waco. Both photos were provided by Alex Schmidt, the owner and restorer of a ClarkAir CA-1. http://castraponere.com/bloodonthetalon/history-of-the-clark-airborne-dozer/ http://www.nationalmuseum.af.mil/factsheets/factsheet.asp?id=966 http://www.syltech.net/history.htm
